John Walker 1st
emigrated from Derry, Ireland in 1720, settled in Delaware where he married
and where his son, John Walker, 2nd was born in 1728. Married
Elizabeth, Hampshire County, VA Volunteer under Col. Washington and shared
in Bradford's defeat. Col. Walker in 1787 removed to the mouth of Green
River in Rutherford Co., NC where he died Jan 22, 1796. (Reference- Draper's

Mrs. K. B. Mitchell,
a professional genealogist of Sparta, TN sent the following copy of the
John Walker Bible record, "which I took from what remains of the old Bible."
In a field in Wild Cat Cove there used to be some unmarked graves that
were of the Rose and Jarvis families. I visited there recently, but found
no markers of Rose or Jarvis or Walker. Most gravestones were carved out
of sandstone, and engraving them had to be done by hand. Many of the oldest
stones bear no inscriptions.
"Burtis Walker
married Catharine Price - her sister was Sarah Poteet, so that is why their
names and dates are in the Walker Bible. This George Price, father of Catharine
Price Walker, was born in DC, so his will states, also his gravestone."
