There are many variations of the family name.  It is thought that since, at one time, the name had been anglicized to Redsleeves that this was a good indication the family's occupation in the "Old" country was meat cutter or butcher.  Another thought is that this family is connected to the meat packing family of Armour.

     Noah had two known siblings:  Phillip (1821-1876) who married Malinda Christopher; and John (1826-1859) who married Rebecca Zilla Kinsland. According to the 1830 Census, Noah also probably had two sisters.  Records have been found regarding the marriage of Mary Radornel to Joshua Kinsland and of Susanah Rhodearmel to George Moore.  So far we have not been able to connect these lines.  In 1849 Noah acted as bondsman for Jane Moore and Joseph Christopher.

     Noah and Maryann had:  Margiman Henry (1842-1865); John Griffin (1843-1865); William Kimzy (1845-1925) who married 1st Manerva Smathers, 2nd Elmira Catherine Bonham; Phillip Jasper (1847-1848); Harry Labury (1849-1873); Harriet Elizabeth (1841-1923) who married William P. Abbott; Mary Vianann (1853-1908) who married Merit Jasper Smathers; Nancy Adeline (1855-1857); Jethro Baxter (1860-1927) who married Amanda Cook; and an unnamed son (1862-1863).

     A great-grandson of Noah's is Air Force Major General Roger Kim Rhodarmer.  A great- great-grandson is popular Asheville radio personality, Scotty Rhodarmer.

     Noah (1817-1887) and Maryann (1822-1900) are buried at Morning Star Church Cemetery, Canton, North Carolina.
